What Trending measures
Silex Trending compares recent observable activity with each project's own earlier baseline, then orders every currently eligible project by that internal momentum value.
What rank means
#1 means the strongest current relative momentum in the eligible Silex set. The rank is always shown with the eligible universe size and does not cover every Cronos project.
What rank does not mean
Rank is not a project-quality grade, Verification result, safety score, risk rating, price prediction or guarantee of future performance. It does not mean “best token on Cronos”.
Trending does not mean Verified or safe. It is contextual market intelligence, not investment advice or a recommendation.
Eligibility
Only projects approved for public Silex discovery are considered. They also need sufficient liquidity, a recent market observation, and enough historical data. Otherwise Silex shows “Collecting data” or “Not enough market depth” instead of inventing a rank.
Ranking factors
The current version uses volume momentum and liquidity momentum over short, daily and weekly context. Percentage changes are capped, tiny baselines are discounted and negative volume momentum has a bounded contribution. A factual decline remains visible, but cannot become an unlimited penalty. Liquidity is a modest market-depth signal.
A small Community Points component uses current UTC-day support. Unique supporters carry 75% of that internal component and bounded point totals carry 25%, so one user allocating their entire level-based daily budget cannot imitate multiple independent supporters. The configured Community component is hard-capped at 5% and can only add a positive signal.
Community leaderboard rank does not determine Trending rank. Poop, Fire, Rocket and Red Flag reactions have exactly zero Trending influence. Missing optional metrics are not treated as negative; reliable available components are renormalized. Holder and transaction-level activity metrics are currently unavailable and contribute nothing. Trending measures activity, not bullishness. High volume can reflect many kinds of trading and Silex does not claim full wash-trading detection.
The public API v1 retains a numeric score for compatibility. In v3 this is a normalized internal momentum index with 50 as neutral; it is not a percentage, rating or recommendation. Consumers should use rank together with eligibleProjectCount for public ordering.
Can projects pay to trend?
No. Organic Silex Trending rankings cannot be purchased. Verification, social reputation, badges, sponsorship and payments do not add Community Points or change organic ordering. The daily community signal is deliberately capped, so it cannot overrule observable market momentum, liquidity eligibility, anomaly protections or critical Watch conditions.
Silex Watch and Trending are separate
Watch asks “What changed?” Trending asks “Where is meaningful momentum occurring?” A project can trend while Watch reports a warning, and a Verified project gets no automatic advantage.
Protections cap misleading percentage spikes from tiny baselines. Stale data, insufficient liquidity and narrowly defined critical liquidity-removal or supply-change events may discount or temporarily withhold a rank. Provider degradation itself never creates a penalty.
Why a project can rank #1 with declining volume
Imagine Project A has 24h volume down 45% while liquidity improves 4%. Project B has volume down 65% and liquidity down 2%, while Project C has volume down 75% and flat liquidity. Project A may rank #1 on Silex because its combined, bounded momentum is currently strongest among those eligible projects—even though its absolute activity is cooling.
Refresh timing
Trending is calculated approximately once per hour from Silex's locally stored Watch and indexed observations. It is not real time. If a calculation fails, the previous successful ranking is retained and may be marked stale.
